Public invited to comment on possible corridor alternatives
A public information meeting will be held on Monday, October 15 to discuss planning efforts for the US 51 (Stoughton-McFarland) Corridor Study in Dane County. The meeting will be held 5-8:30 p.m. at Stoughton High School, 600 Lincoln Avenue. A short presentation is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The purpose of the study is to develop long-term improvements to address safety, congestion, and bicycle and pedestrian issues along the corridor and determine the associated impacts.
The public is encouraged to attend the information meeting, provide input and ask questions. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the study on an individual basis. Maps showing the latest updates and options associated with the two current improvement alternatives will be on display. Exhibits showing impacts and potential mitigation items for Babcock and Viking parks will also be displayed. Interested citizens who attend the meeting will have an opportunity to review the displays and provide comments to the study team.
WisDOT anticipates the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be released for review in 2013. A public hearing will be scheduled at that time. After consideration of input from the public hearing, WisDOT will select a preferred alternative for the corridor and a Final EIS will be prepared. The study is scheduled to conclude in 2014.
