Stephanie Klett earns 8th Emmy nomination for her “Discover Wisconsin” work

MADISON, Wis. (Oct. 10, 2012) — Wisconsin Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett has been nominated for not one, but two Emmy awards for her “Discover Wisconsin” work. According to the U.S. Travel Association, they believe Klett is the first tourism secretary in the United States to be nominated for an Emmy.

The Emmy nominations were announced in Chicago last night by television personalities Christian Farr of NBC5 and Karen Jordan of ABC7. Klett received nominations in the categories of “Outstanding Crafts Achievement for On-Camera Talent – Program Host/Moderator” and “Outstanding Achievement for Magazine Programming – Program/Special Series.”

Klett has previously been nominated for six Emmys, bringing her career Emmy nominations to eight. In 2010 she won her first Emmy in the category of “Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence on Camera” for her role hosting the “Discover Wisconsin” TV show.

“I’m thrilled to be nominated for two Emmys. As a proud Wisconsonite, it’s so nice to get recognition for the show I hosted for 17 years,” said Klett. “And it’s especially touching to be nominated during my last season on ‘Discover Wisconsin.’”

The reel Klett submitted featured a segment called “The Cranberry’s Big Gig” from Warrens Cranberry Festival. The video showcased the cranberry queen and princesses, a parade, a bog and marsh tour, and plenty of eating. The video also starred former Green Bay Packer Gilbert Brown and the Sweet Adelines singing in harmony to their customers as they served up cranberry cream puffs. To wrap up the segment, a re-cap of Klett’s years at “Discover Wisconsin” was shown. The segment was the last show Klett ever filmed before transitioning to the position of tourism secretary in 2011.
