MADISON, Wis. (July 9, 2012) — Wisconsin has been named the best state to vacation in by AAA members in the annual Best of the Midwest survey. AAA Midwest Traveler readers voted for their favorite places to visit, eat and play. Results are published in the July/August issue.

“We couldn’t be more proud to receive the honor of being named best vacation state by readers of AAA Midwest Traveler,” said Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett. “It’s recognitions like this, from fellow travelers, that motivate new people to visit Wisconsin. Once we get a visitor here, they quickly discover why we are such a great vacation experience and they return again and again.”

Wisconsin has ample attractions and destinations for all travelers. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a week-long trip, visitors can enjoy Wisconsin waterparks (indoor and outdoor), bike trails, theaters, shopping malls, fishing, sporting events, food and wine tours, and great nightlife venues.

AAA Midwest Traveler is mailed bi-monthly to approximately 560,000 AAA member households in Missouri, southern Illinois, southern Indiana and eastern Kansas.
