CCWC focuses on economic development in Waukesha County

Brookfield, WI – February 9, 2012. Since May of 2011, the Community Chambers of Waukesha County (CCWC) Partnering for Economic Development, have been meeting monthly with Bill Mitchell of the Waukesha County Economic Development Corporation to learn the skills and relationships needed to grow jobs in Waukesha County through economic development.

The community chambers include: Brookfield-Carol White, Delafield-Deb Smith, Hartland-Lynn Minturn, Mukwonago-April Reszka, Muskego-Tina Weiss, Oconomowoc-Pat Ornberg, Pewaukee-Kathy Eckhardt, and Sussex-Kathryn Wagner.

Mary Perry, Regional Development Manager, of the newly formed WEDC (Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation) spoke to the chamber leaders at their December meeting about initiatives at the state level, and how WEDC is working together with economic development leaders at the county level.

Lynn Minturn, Executive Director, Hartland Chamber of Commerce said, “Understanding what each partner –business, chamber, WCEDC – can bring to the table is essential to ensuring that the county continues to grow thereby maximizing the investment of each party involved.  Our individual missions may vary, but our vision is the same – economic development in Waukesha County.”

“As a partner in the CCWC, I am impressed with the members’ commitment to the success of business in their respective communities. Economic development is a team sport, and CCWC is fielding a talented team for Waukesha County’s future,” reports Bill Mitchell, Executive Director/COO for the Waukesha County Economic Development Corporation.

Carol White, President of the Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, stated, “It is exciting to see what can be accomplished when we collaborate, learn from each other, and become colleagues – it is not about who may get the next new or growing business to locate in their community, but what we can learn from each opportunity.”
