ASA Midwest Tour: Eilen’s consistency paying off as the ASAMT heads to Marshfield Motor Speedway

It seems that no matter where he is racing or where he starts in the field, Jonathan Eilen is a driver who silently and methodically makes his way to the front. He has always been a driver of consistency. Whether you are looking at one particular season or his ASAMT career overall, he has achieved a level of performance that has remained highly consistent over time.

After suffering a back injury at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in 2010 and making a solid return in 2011 with a victory at the very same track, the ECHO and ECHO Bear Cat Touring Star finds himself on top of the 2012 points standings as the ASA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings heads to Marshfield Motor Speedway this Saturday night, June 30th.

While the ASAMT is only one-third of the way into the season, Eilen has finished in the top ten in all but one event. He opened his season with a ninth place finish at Madison International Speedway following it up with a second place finish at State Park Speedway. He finished 15th at Berlin Raceway, seventh out of the ASAMT regulars.

Finally, while not his best finish, one of his most impressive accomplishments came a couple weeks ago when he finished fourth out of 42 drivers who started the Howie Lettow Memorial 150 at the Milwaukee Mile. He qualified tenth out of the 72 drivers from around the country who attempted to make the event.

Considering the competition level in the ASA Midwest Tour, it is obvious that finishing in the top ten is key to staying in contention for a championship which is the goal for most drivers. Consistency has always proven to be the key to success and even championships in racing, just ask last year’s champion Andrew Morrissey. He did not win a race the entire season but remained consistent week in and week out.

So what will Jonathan’s goal be this Saturday night in the Marshfield 100? No doubt the ultimate goal will be to put the Eilen & Sons Trucking sponsored Ford in victory lane and extend his point lead. Fans can be be assured that no matter where he starts the driver of the bright blue #77 will be methodically making his way to the front.

Qualifying for the ASA Midwest Tour Marshfield 100 begins at 5:00pm with an autograph session at 5:45 and racing at 6:30. For more information go to asamidwesttour.com
