APC to bring unique “one stop” service including High Pressure Processing and logistics solutions to West Coast food producers

MILWAUKEE and SACRAMENTO, Calif. (August 17, 2012) – Milwaukee-based American Pasteurization Company (APC), a leader in High Pressure Processing (HPP) technology for the food manufacturing industry, announced today that the company will open a second facility in Sacramento, Calif. in December 2012. This new facility will allow APC to accommodate rising demand for its full-service food testing, pasteurization, packaging and logistics solutions among food manufacturers across the country, and specifically those on the West Coast.

High Pressure Processing (HPP) is an increasingly popular method of treating food products using pressure, as opposed to traditional methods that rely on high temperatures. It drastically improves the shelf life of fresh food products without changing taste, texture or color and eliminates the need for many preservatives.

The new APC facility will be located at 2335 Del Monte St., West Sacramento. With 41,000 square feet, the new facility can accommodate up to five HPP production lines.

The facility will be leased from Tony’s Fine Foods, a Sacramento-based strategic partner that will be providing transportation and logistics support to APC customers, as part of APC’s unique “one stop” service model.

Another important piece of this model is APC’s innovative partnership with the National Food Lab, which helps APC customers develop, test and utilize HPP technology for a wide variety of food products. APC is currently working with potential customers for the Sacramento facility and product testing is underway with the National Food Lab to determine product formulations and packaging solutions, so processing can begin promptly upon the plant opening later this year.

“With this expansion, we look forward to making HPP technology more available and accessible for companies looking to offer their customers fresh and safe, clean-label products,” said APC CEO Justin Segel. “We guide our clients through every step of the process, from testing to shipping, making it simple and cost-effective for them to offer fresh food, free of preservatives.”

APC utilizes a tolling model to serve food manufacturers nationwide, processing products that range from fresh and ready-to-eat meats, cheeses and dips, to all natural salsas, deli salads, seafood and juices.
