MADISON, Wis. – Volunteering for Agrace HospiceCare can be a very rewarding experience in a person’s life. In January, Agrace will offer volunteer orientation and additional training sessions for those interested in making a difference in the lives of others. Volunteer opportunities are available for individuals aged 14 and older. Volunteers working with patients must be at least 16 years old. The training sessions will be held at Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison. Advance registration is necessary for all trainings. To register, call Jennifer Stangl at (608) 327-7163.
Orientation:
All prospective volunteers must attend an orientation session.
Tuesday, January 8, 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
After orientation has been completed, volunteers may choose to attend additional training based on their volunteering interests. Volunteers interested in landscaping, running errands and volunteering in the Agrace HospiceCare thrift stores need only to attend the orientation session.
Home-Care Volunteer Training (direct patient care):
Specialized training is provided for volunteers interested in working with hospice patients who are living in their own homes or in long-term care facilities. Sessions are held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants must attend all four sessions.
Session 1: Tuesday, January 22
Session 2: Thursday, January 24
Session 3: Tuesday, January 29
Session 4: Thursday, January 31
Family members of Agrace patients must wait at least one year after the death of their loved one before becoming a volunteer. To learn more about the upcoming training or volunteer opportunities at Agrace, visit agracehospicecare.org or call Jennifer Stangl at (608) 327-7163.
