MILWAUKEE – A report on the financial and environmental benefits of an innovative program to promote sustainable manufacturing in Wisconsin will be unveiled at a June 23 news conference in Milwaukee.

The Wisconsin Profitable Sustainability Initiative was launched in April 2010 by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce and the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WMEP) to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices and processes by small and midsize manufacturers. Over the past year, WMEP and a team of experts have worked with 45 state manufacturers on projects targeting energy, logistics and environmental improvements.

News conference participants include:
* Wisconsin Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary Mike Klonsinski
* WMEP Executive Director/CEO Buckley Brinkman
* Representatives from two Southeast Wisconsin manufacturing firms who will share successful projects completed under the program.
* Experts in energy, logistics and environmental engineering who provided assistance to manufacturers enrolled in the program.

After the presentation, speakers will take questions from the media.

Parking: public parking garage next to Hyatt at N. 4th Street, enter from Kilbourn.
