WMC: Better business climate spurs job growth

Led by high-wage manufacturing job creation, the Milwaukee metropolitan area ranked third in the nation for job creation, according to U.S. Labor Department data.

The job growth started in late 2010, and is continuing through 2011.

In Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development reports that more than half of jobs created in the last year were in the high-wage manufacturing sector. DWD reported 24,700 new non-farm jobs, with 15,300 in the manufacturing sector.

That robust growth is a positive reflection on the aggressive pro-growth policies passed into law by the Legislature and Governor Scott Walker earlier this year. From January until June, Wisconsin saw enactment of lawsuit reform, regulatory reform, tax relief, a manufacturers’ income tax credit and collective bargaining reforms.

Gov. Walker has called the Legislature into special session to enact a second wave of pro-growth policies.

In short, the reforms are working to spur job growth and stabilize our economy.

We are leading the nation in job creation. And that’s good for our families.
