Event offers networking opportunities for researchers, entrepreneurs, investors

The 4th annual Wisconsin Science & Technology Symposium will take place July 28 and 29 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

The event is expected to bring together 125 to 175 science and technology researchers and clinicians as well as representatives from the public sector, industry and general public to share ideas and spark new collaborations.

The symposium will showcase cutting-edge research from the University of Wisconsin System, Aurora Health Care, BayCare Clinic, Marshfield Clinic and industry in diverse fields including biofuel production, digital tools, fuel cell development, medical devices, nanotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Scheduled speakers include Wisconsin Department of Commerce Secretary Paul Jadin, Wisconsin Workforce Development Secretary Scott Baumbach and company and clinic representatives as well as researchers from UW System campuses.

Providing opportunities for networking will be a major focus of the symposium. Additional highlights include a workshop to launch a new online training tool for entrepreneurs. Developed by WiSys Technology Foundation and UW-Whitewater, the online tutorial addresses key aspects of entrepreneurship including intellectual property, business planning and market research.

The symposium is being organized by WiSys and UW-Whitewater. Academic and industry researchers, entrepreneurs, business leaders and interested community members are encouraged to participate. Exhibit opportunities are available.
