On October 27th, the Wisconsin Procurement Institute, Michigan Works! The JobForce ‐ Procurement Technical Assistance Center and the Marinette/Menominee Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a “Welding Procedure Workshop” at the Best Western Riverfront Inn, 1821 Riverside Ave., Marinette, WI.

Presenters for the workshop will be Bruce Halverson, Marinette Marine Corporation (MMC) Quality Assurance Manager and Dan Roland, MMC Quality Technical Coordinator. Both presenters are

American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspectors. Attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion for eight hours of instruction that will count towards education hours for AWS Certified Weld Inspectors or Nondestructive Test Personnel.

This intensive one day workshop covers the development and maintenance of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) in accordance with various regulatory codes. Manufacturing products for government contracts requires the use of qualified and approved WPS. More frequently, commercial customers are asking for qualified welding procedures. This workshop will provide the skills necessary to properly qualify and maintain welding documentation in accordance with one or more regulatory codes.

Workshop attendees will gain insight on the preparation of welding and qualifying procedures. Participants can bring procedures to share and be critiqued by the presenters and other participants. This event is formatted for welding engineers, supervisors and technical personnel with knowledge of welding terminology and processes. However, welding students with a desire to learn about documentation of welding procedures are encouraged to attend and will be admitted at no cost. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops to the training.

Sign in for the “Welding Procedure Workshop” will be 7 – 8am central time, with the workshop being held from 8am – 4pm central. The cost for the event is $30.00, which includes a free continental breakfast and lunch. To register, go to website: http://www.jobforce.org
