Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association Launches Spudster Contest
Antigo, WI – April 20, 2011 – Summer is the season of fresh potato salad, skewered taters on the grill and scooters – yes, scooters. The Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers association has launched its summer Spudster Contest for consumers, produce buyers and produce managers. One lucky consumer will be awarded His and Hers Spudsters (Genuine Scooters). Two lucky produce buyers will each win one Spudster, and one lucky produce manager will ride away on a Spudster. All winners will be randomly chosen and the winners will be announced in June 2011. The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2011.
The consumer Spudster Contest is hosted online at http://www.eatwisconsinpotatoes.com. The site is also home to a wide selection of creative, healthy Wisconsin potato recipes, as well as the opportunity for consumers to enter the Red, White and Blue Wisconsin Potatoes Recipe Contest.
The Spudster Contest for produce buyers and managers is hosted online at http://www.wisconsinpotatoes.com. Produce managers can also download or order a free Spudster POP Poster to display in their stores. The Spudster poster provides shoppers with relevant Spudster Contest information and directs them to the http://www.eatwisconsinpotatoes.com site to register for their chance to win His and Hers Spudsters.
“What better way to enjoy summer than tooling around town on scooters and then heading home to enjoy Wisconsin potatoes,” asks Tim Feit, Director of Promotions and Consumer Education for WPVGA. “This is a great opportunity for grocers to drive summer sales in their fresh produce department, to provide their customers with a chance to win, and to enjoy the opportunity of winning something for themselves. And the high-gas-mileage scooters are a great reward – especially in an era in which gasoline prices continue to rise. It’s a win-win-win situation.”
