Milwaukee, Wis. – Governor-elect Scott Walker on Thursday announced that Cathy Stepp will be appointed as Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Matt Moroney will serve as the Deputy Secretary, and Rep. Scott Gunderson will be the Executive Assistant. Stepp has said that streamlining the environmental permitting process and reducing review times is one of the priorities for the new administration. Bob Sather, President of the Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance (WBIA), issued this statement today in response to the news:
“The WBIA is pleased to hear about the appointment of these three individuals to the DNR, and we’re particularly pleased to hear that the incoming administration will focus on streamlining the permitting process.
“Many of the projects that state bio fuel facilities are currently undertaking involve improving efficiency and reducing energy usage, which not only help our bottom line, but help improve the state’s environment as well. Ensuring these types of projects are approved quickly and efficiently is a top priority for our organization, and it is promising to hear the new administration shares our concerns.
“We look forward to working with Secretary Stepp, Deputy Secretary Moroney, and Executive Assistant Gunderson in the coming years as we work to continue to grow our state’s Bio Industry.”
