(MADISON) – Michael Semmann has been promoted to Vice President—Government Relations and Communications at the Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA), the state’s largest financial industry trade association. In related news, WBA has announced its retainer of Martin Schreiber and Associates (MS&A), a government relations and public affairs consulting firm to assist the association in its advocacy efforts.

“Wisconsin’s banking industry continues to be unjustly blamed for a variety of issues,” explained Rose Oswald Poels, WBA President/CEO. “Mike’s new role and responsibilities within WBA, along with the services of MS&A, will help in dispelling these myths in addition to highlighting the tangible and intangible benefits banks provide to their communities across Wisconsin, and to overall economic development.”

Semmann stated these improvements in WBA’s advocacy efforts will allow the association to continue to have a strong presence at the Capitol while increasing its ability to educate municipalities throughout the state, such as Milwaukee, about the banking industry.

MS&A was launched by former Wisconsin Governor Martin Schreiber and employs bipartisan strategies through partners Ken Walsh and former WBA employee Jeremey Shepherd.

Semmann joined WBA in 2004 as director – government relations. He is the past president of the Association of Wisconsin Lobbyists, a statewide trade association for government relations professionals. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has a degree in economics.
