Bed Bug Canine Inspection Services combined with heat treatment services continue to be the most effective method in bed bug prevention and treatment

Madison, Wisconsin, February 28, 2011…Wil-Kil Pest Control today announced the arrival of its second bed bug dog, a beagle named Daisy. Daisy is joining forces with Max, Wil-Kil’s first bed bug dog, who joined the company in 2009. Using a bed bug canine, in conjunction with Wil-Kil’s sustainable heat treatment services, has proven to be the most effective solution for detecting and treating bed bugs.

“Since obtaining Max, our first bed bug canine in 2009, our bed bug services have increased by 75%. The resurgence of bed bugs over the past year has dramatically increased the demand for bed bug treatment services in our markets. We are finding bed bugs not only in residences, but in movie theatres, retail stores, hospitals, hotels and businesses. We have obtained our second bed bug canine, Daisy, to more effectively meet this growing demand,” said Randy Allen, regional manager of Wil-Kil.

“Bed bugs are a year-round national problem, due primarily to an increase in global travel and difficulty in proper treatment methods. A bed bug canine can save customers time and money because our dogs will detect the bed bugs within minutes, versus hours with the human eye,” said Allen. “Once the bed bugs are detected by Max or Daisy, one of our Heat Remediation Specialists will treat the bed bugs with our heat treatment process, which can be done within 24 hours.”

Allen explained many businesses hire the company’s bed bug canines as a proactive step. “It’s important to conduct regular bed bug sweeps on a continuous basis. Because bed bugs hide in small, dark crevices, they are often overlooked. It’s better to try and avoid the problem before it’s too late and the bed bugs spread.”

Allen suggests taking the following precautions when traveling to prevent obtaining bed bugs:

* Do not place suitcases on hotel floors or on the hotel bed. Place luggage on a metal suitcase rack, or non-upholstered furniture. Also consider bringing a large plastic trash bag to keep suitcases in during hotel stays.

* Check hotel bed sheets and mattress seams for unusual blood spots. Carry a small flashlight to assist you with quick visual inspections.

* Inspect suitcases after returning home from vacation and for any signs of bed bugs.

* If you carry bed bugs home, seek immediate professional pest control assistance from Wil-Kil to address the infestation problem.

Wil-Kil obtained Daisy from J&K Canine Academy based in High Springs, Florida in December 2010. For more information on Daisy and Max’s bed bug detection services and proper heat treatments, please call Wil-Kil Pest Control at 800-236-8735 or visit http://www.wil-kil.com.
