WEDC: Air Wisconsin receives award to retain jobs

MADISON – Governor Scott Walker announced that Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation has received a $600,000 award from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to maintain jobs at its corporate office in Appleton.

The award will help reduce Air Wisconsin’s lease over the next seven years. The terms of the award require Air Wisconsin to maintain 242 jobs in Appleton through 2015 in order to have the principle and accrued interest forgiven.

Air Wisconsin’s headquarters is based in Appleton. As the largest independently held regional airline in the United States, Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation performs flying services for US Airways, with service to approximately 70 cities throughout North America. Air Wisconsin also provides ground handling services for United Airlines in United’s Washington Dulles International hub and 22 other cities throughout the country. Air Wisconsin’s team is made up of approximately 2,800 employees.
