WEA Trust: Press statement on LFB papers

Some media outlets have stated that the LFB (Legislative Fiscal Bureau) papers released today show a $68 million dollar savings “if school districts switch from the WEA Trust to the state plan or another private insurance company.”

There is nothing in the LFB papers that demonstrate those savings. The $68 million figure is based on a 2005 study by a partisan organization that does not reflect the competitiveness of the Trust.

We look forward to competing in the market and hope that this misinformation does not prejudice fair-minded citizens, school board members, and superintendents of Wisconsin.
