USDA: Official coming to Wisconsin to address biofuels initiatives and programs – April 28th

STEVEN POINT, WI – APRIL 21, 2011 – – – Todd Campbell, U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Confidential Assistant for USDA Rural Business and Cooperative Programs, will be in Wisconsin on Thursday April 28th as part of a USDA national effort to promote renewable energy production and distribution.

Campbell will join USDA Rural Development State Director, Stan Gruszynski; Farm Services Agency State Director, Brad Pfaff; USDA energy specialists; as well as public and private energy partners, in a discussion of bio-fuel opportunities for Wisconsin.

According to Gruszynski, Campbell will review USDA business programming and resources targeted to the development of clean energy systems and the generation of renewable energy.

Specifically, Campbell will talk about assistance and funding available through the USDA Rural Development “Renewable Energy for America Program” and the recently issued rule that clarifying the definition of renewable energy systems to include flexible fuel pumps, sometimes referred to as “blender pumps.” This clarification is intended to provide fuel station owners with incentives to install flexible fuel pumps that will offer Americans more renewable energy options. The Obama administration has set a goal of installing 10,000 flexible fuel pumps nationwide within 5 years.

The meeting is being hosted jointly by the Wisconsin Office of Energy Independence, Didion Ethanol, and USDA Rural Development.
