WHAT: Rally at the Courthouse: Housing is a Human Right! Connecting the Dots on M&I Bank
On April 8th, Take Back the Land-Madison and community partners had a crowd of 40 people to protest a foreclosure by M&I Bank, and the eventual eviction of formerly homeless tenants at 6304 Hammersley Rd. “The tenants should be allowed to stay in this home.” Said Monica Adams of Take Back the Land-Madison. “Homes are for people to live in and should not be profit centers for banks like M&I.”
The court date for the confirmation of sale for the foreclosure of the duplex is on Tuesday, April 26th at 8:00 AM. We will hold a rally and press conference outside of the Dane County Courthouse to demand the property be turned over to the Madison Area Community Land Trust, not to M&I Bank. We will then march to M&I Bank to remind people to move their money!

Background: Take Back the Land-Madison is part of the national Take Back the Land movement which seeks to take action in the face of a housing crisis in which foreclosed homes remain vacant and too many families are homeless while banks profit from billions in tax-financed bailout money. http://www.tblmadison.wordpress.com
