Representatives of Save The Water’s Edge, a grassroots citizens collective centered in northern Wisconsin, will be visiting Milwaukee tomorrow (6/3/11) to spread the word about concerns surrounding LRB 2035 which the group attests would significantly weaken current mining laws in the state opening the door to taconite mining in the Bad River Watershed. A press conference will be held at:

McKinley Park

1700 Lincoln Memorial Drive

Mliwaukee, WI

time: 1:00 P.M.

Proposed taconite mining will adversely effect the Bad River Watershed and the Bad River Lake Superior Ojibwe Tribal community in Odanah, Wisconsin. This tribal community is located along the shores of Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin. Bad River Tribal members have been ignored as Wisconsin State legislators allow mining companies to rewrite the regulations that ignore environmental concerns. Save the Waters Edge (SWE) spokesperson Frank Koehn will address the concerns and present the 7th Generation Amendment as an alternative to the LRB 2035, which corporations have deemed the “Jobs for Generations” amendment to the state constitution.
