MILWAUKEE, (May 4, 2011) – Homelessness and hair styling have little in common, and that’s what makes Elizabeth D’Acquisto imaginative and Rebuilding Dreams noteworthy.

For the second consecutive year the enterprising owner of Salone Aveda on Milwaukee’s Upper East Side will host a combination concert, reception and information program benefitting Repairers of the Breach, the community’s only daytime resource center for homeless persons. Called Rebuilding Dreams, the event will be held May 16 at Turner Hall in downtown Milwaukee between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Rebuilding Dreams will feature music by Five Card Stud, food, refreshments and a brief presentation by MacCanon Brown, Executive Director of Repairers of the Breach, on the plight of the homeless and programs to break the cycle of poverty afflicting them. The organization’s job counseling, GED classes, medical treatment and related services will be highlighted.

During its first year, the Rebuilding Dreams concert and program raised in excess of $33,000, which was donated to the current capital campaign to expand the Repairers resource center at 1335 W. Vliet St. and the organization’s range of services.

“It’s all about transformations,” Ms. D’Acquisto said. “Repairers performs them every day with their numerous programs. They have had a tremendous effect on the homeless and the Milwaukee community. That’s why we’re pleased to help them to continue to rebuild dreams,” she said.

Established in 1991, Repairers of the Breach operates between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, including holidays, serving approximately 80-100 homeless persons daily.

Rebuilding Dreams is open to the general public. Tickets can be purchased at Turner Hall the evening of May 16 or in advance at Salone Aveda at 925 E. Ogden St.; or by phone by calling 414-291-6161. The cost is $75.
