MADISON – The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin appointed twelve community leaders from the area to the Region 9 Broadband Planning Team representing Southeast Wisconsin. The Team consists of members from Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha Counties. After considerable preliminary work, and numerous meetings, the Team has drafted a preliminary plan and seeks public comments.

The “Region 9 Broadband Planning Team” has been meeting regularly since last winter to create an action plan to address gaps in broadband availability and improve the adoption of available broadband services. The Team explored a number of proposals and options. The draft plan calls for community institutions, such as libraries, to provide broadband access and computer-literacy training for underserved groups, including rural residents, people with disabilities and low income groups.

Description: Description: http://www.link.wisconsin.gov/lwi/images/Region9.jpgThe Team seeks public review and input on the current draft plan. The plan and one page summary are available on-line at: http://www.link.wisconsin.gov.
