MADISON – Chairperson Phil Montgomery today announced that R.J. Pirlot will serve as his Executive Assistant, the top-ranking aide at the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. Pirlot, an attorney, is leaving as the Director of Legislative Relations at Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce and will begin his new role on Monday.

“R.J. will be a great asset as we make sure that Wisconsin has a reliable supply of affordable and sustainable energy,” Chairperson Montgomery said. “R.J.’s ability and experience with policy making and energy regulation will help us hold down the costs of producing energy to help our private sector meet Governor Walker’s goal of creating 250,000 new jobs.”

Pirlot has served on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Public Utility Institute and has worked for WMC since 2003. Prior to that, he worked for the Wisconsin Medical Society and served as a legal counsel, policy director and analyst for members of the Legislature.

“I am honored to serve and I look forward to contributing to an agency that oversees the essential services that keep our homes and businesses running,” Pirlot said.

Pirlot received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology at St. Norbert College. He and his wife have two sons and live in Dane County.
