MSOE: MSOE goes mobile

University launches mobile app and website

Staying up-to-date with campus events and important information is easier thanks to the new MSOE Mobile app and mobile website. The “MSOE Mobile” app is a set of tools that puts MSOE in the palm of your hand. The app is available for free in the iTunes App Store and the Android Market.

“The university launched the MSOE Mobile app primarily as a tool for prospective students and as a resource for current students,” said Dana Grennier, director of admission. “In this technology-driven age, it was a natural next step for the university to take in reaching out to high school students.”

Within the app that was developed for iPhone and iPod touch, there are ten modules, or “features,” as listed below. The Android version of the app includes all of the features, except for the Tours.

Tour: Learn about MSOE’s degrees, services, campus buildings and facilities.

Maps: Search for buildings and use GPS to see where you are on campus.

Videos: Watch MSOE videos on YouTube.

Images: See MSOE labs and classrooms, student activities, athletics and more.

News: Stay up to date with the news at MSOE.

Faculty/Staff: Find contact information for faculty and staff members.

Courses: See what courses are being offered.

Public Safety: Call to report emergencies or request a ride from the campus shuttle.

Radio: Enjoy a live broadcast of 91.7FM WMSE, MSOE’s own radio station.

Magazine: Read Dimensions, MSOE’s magazine.

The university is currently working on additional features which will be added to the app in the near future. These include a streamlined calendar of events, athletics scores and highlights and an interactive view of the library catalog.

In addition to the app, a mobile version of the MSOE website has been made available for Web-capable phones and devices such as: Android phones, iPhone, iPod Touch, Palm Pre/Pixi, etc. Visit the mobile website at http://m.msoe.edu. It provides access to information that users are most likely to need on the go. The mobile site also provides a link to the full version of MSOE’s website.
