Applaud Governor Walker and Legislators for Passing a Bipartisan Jobs Bill That Will Encourage More Broadband Investment and Job Growth in Wisconsin

MADISON, WI – Following Governor Walker’s signing of the Wisconsin Telecom Modernization Act into law this morning, the Ministerial Alliance Against the Digital Divide (MAADD) released the following statement by Reverend Terrance Sims, President of the MAADD Wisconsin Chapter:

“We are very pleased to hear that Governor Walker has signed into law this important bill that will promote new investment in broadband technologies. We also want to thank the many legislators who worked hard to get this bill to the Governor’s desk and those who voted to pass it.

This new law will allow Wisconsin to obtain more high tech broadband investment. This will create unlimited potential for low income and minority communities across the state. With state-of-the-art broadband investment, the opportunities are endless. It can allow underserved neighborhoods to promote economic development through the establishment of minority small businesses that hire locally. It can provide Wisconsin citizens with better access to healthcare, education, and jobs. And it can help the state attract and retain jobs in every sector of the economy.

We applaud Governor Walker and Wisconsin lawmakers for enacting this law that will put the state back on the right path and help create jobs.”

The Ministerial Alliance Against the Digital Divide (MAADD) is a 175,000+ member next generation civil rights organization led by ministers devoted to bridging the Digital Divide and promoting personal and economic development in low income and minority communities across the county.
