Madison-Yesterday Governor Walker issued Executive Order #51, which recreates the Wisconsin Technology Committee. This formation of an advisory committee consisting of members of the Wisconsin Technology Council will facilitate a deeper collaboration between state government and the Wisconsin Technology Council-enabling the State’s full utilization of the Wisconsin Technology Council’s policy recommendations and programs.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the Wisconsin Technology Council,” said Governor Walker. “We are going to need to innovate and utilize fresh ideas from the private sector to move our economy forward. It is my hope that some of these ideas, proposals or recommendations will come from this committee.”
The Wisconsin Technology Council has been tasked with promoting and supporting the creation, development, and retention of science- and technology-based businesses in the State by developing programs that stimulate innovation and entrepreneurial activity.
“For more than 10 years, the Wisconsin Technology Council has served as a non-partisan policy voice for the state of Wisconsin’s efforts to build an innovation economy,” said Tom Still President of the Wisconsin Technology Council. This recognition by Gov. Scott Walker, like governors from both parties before him, reaffirms the independent role the Tech Council plays in providing advice to the executive and legislative branches of state government. The innovation economy is vital to creating high-quality jobs in Wisconsin. The Tech Council’s 50-member board of largely private-sector members are honored to continue their record of providing solid advice and hands-on connections to help Wisconsin meet the challenges of competing in global economy.”
