Gov. Walker: Calls special session

Madison—This afternoon Governor Walker issued an executive order calling the Legislature into special session in an effort to help the private sector create 250,000 new jobs by the end of his first term.

“Today I am following through on a campaign promise I made to the citizens of Wisconsin,” said walker. “Calling the special session sends an immediate message to job creators that Wisconsin is open for business.”

The special session will include legislation aimed at lowering taxes for small businesses and job creators, controlling the cost of health care, enacting tort reform, improving the rules and regulations process, and creating the Wisconsin Economic Development Council.

“I appreciate the willingness of the legislative leadership to work with me on legislation, that will get Wisconsin working again,” said Walker. “Together I believe we can transform Wisconsin’s business environment, laying the foundation for economic growth.”
