MILWAUKEE (Oct. 19, 2011) − Godfrey & Kahn is proud to announce that Randall J. Erickson, 52, has joined the firm’s Securities Practice Group in the Milwaukee office location.

Erickson was the Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation (M&I) prior to M&I’s acquisition by the Bank of Montreal earlier this year. Before joining M&I in 2002, Erickson was a shareholder at Godfrey & Kahn for more than 12 years. Erickson began his legal career at McDermott, Will & Emery in Chicago.

Erickson is on the Board of Directors for Renaissance Learning Inc, (Nasdaq: RLRN) and the University of Wisconsin ─ LaCrosse Foundation. He also serves on the University of Wisconsin ─ Milwaukee School of Education Board of Visitors. Erickson previously served on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Bankers Association, the Mequon ─Thiensville Education Foundation and the Milwaukee Ballet.

Erickson received his bachelor’s degree cum laude from the University of Wisconsin ─ LaCrosse in 1981 and earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1984. He is a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Wisconsin Law School where he teaches courses on mergers and acquisitions and other related topics.

Erickson is admitted to the bar in the states of Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He focuses his practice on securities, banking, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, corporate governance and other related matters.
