MADISON—Department of Commerce (Commerce) Secretary Paul Jadin today announced that Mike Klonsinski has been appointed as deputy secretary and David Volz has been appointed as executive assistant to the secretary.

“Mike Klonsinski and Dave Volz have proven records of leadership and accomplishment,” said Secretary Jadin. “They will be tremendous assets to my management team as we move to promote economic development across Wisconsin.”

From 1997-present, Klonsinski served as executive director of the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WMEP), which helps Wisconsin’s small to midsize manufacturers become more competitive through continuous improvement, training, export assistance, supply chain management, and profitable sustainability. During his tenure, WMEP assisted more than 3,800 companies, helped create or retain at least 13,000 manufacturing jobs, and produced more than $1 billion in sales benefits and cost savings. Prior to joining WMEP, Klonsinski helped found the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center, the Texas equivalent of WMEP, and held positions in manufacturing engineering with Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX. He has a BS in Industrial Engineering from UW-Madison and an MBA from the University of Texas-Austin.

From 2007-present, Dave Volz served as chief of staff for Sen. Alberta Darling, acting as her advisor in her role as a member of the Joint Finance Committee. He was also responsible for managing staff, directing the office, and promoting the senator’s legislative initiatives. From 2003-07, he was research assistant for the senator, acting as liaison between her and her colleagues and state agencies, helping to advance legislative proposals, and providing comprehensive media and constituent services. He has BA in Communication Arts from the UW-Madison.
