ASA MIDWEST TOUR ANNOUNCES MAJOR INCREASE IN ROOKIE OF THE YEAR PROGRAM INCENTIVES

November 29, 2011 – The American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and GrandStay Hospitality Rookie of the Year program has always been a very worthwhile one, but in 2012, the program will be the biggest yet and an opportunity any potential rookie would not want to pass up.
The new ROY program will include prizes from McGunegill Engines, Pathfinder Chassis, Five Star Bodies, Schaeffers Racing Oil and Roltek Transmissions for a grand total of $28,500. The highest finishing rookie in each event will also receive a $200 cash bonus at every race.
A driver who has raced less than eight times in any season in a Super Late Model series of equal caliber or higher is eligible to run for ROY. If the driver has raced less than half of any ASAMT season, he or she will also be eligible. A driver is not eligible if he or she has won an ASAMT event. Drivers can call the ASAMT office for verification of eligibility.
“I was speaking in depth with Mark Gundrum from ARCA and he really made me think about some things that we have to keep in mind while building the future stars of the series. Who is our next customer? Who is our next star going to be in five years? How can we draw new competitors to our series while they prepare for their future in racing? All of this combined along with some amazing sponsors that stepped up to the plate to offer over $25,000 in incentives to win the ROY program in 2012 will make this program attractive to many new teams that were on the fence about traveling,” said Steve Einhaus, ASA Midwest Tour Vice President.
McGunegill Engine Performance will provide the 2012 ROY a free lease on a brand new engine for the entire 2013 season. The value of this prize is over $16,000 if you had to make a new purchase on an engine.
“In recent years we have had the pleasure of working with the ASA Midwest Tour and gotten to know the family of series regulars. With a very competitive roster of drivers as well as great officials and personnel, we were glad to partner with other industry leaders to help the ASA Midwest Tour put together such a great Rookie of the Year program,” said Sean of McGunegill Engine Performace.
Pathfinder Chassis will donate a new chassis along with complete tech support worth over $2500. Roltek will continue to donate a $5000 transmission.

Our customer base in the ASAMT is very strong and the racers have been very supportive of Roltek Transmission over the years. It is important to us to see new competitors venturing out in the world of super late model touring and it looks like a great group of new young drivers coming on board in 2012 to race for the new improved ROY deal,” said Roltek co-owners Mark Barney and Todd Bombaci.
Five Star Bodies will donate a complete Package A Body worth $3000 while Schaeffer’s Racing Oil will provide free oil for the entire 2013 season valued at $2000.
“The ASAMT has continued to be one of the strongest series in the country and the Rookie contingency continues to get bigger and better every year. The 2012 Rookie of the Year will be required to run all of the donating partner’s products in the 2013 season.
Complete requirements for the Rookie of the Year programs will be released at a later date. Rookie of the Year contenders must accept all requirements in order to be eligible. If the winner of the ROY does not accept all terms, the prize will go to the next highest winner in the 2012 ROY Points.
Additional partners are already expressing interest in joining the ASA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year program and will be announced as they arise.
“Now that we have the new ROY program rolling, we’ll turn our focus to a major increase in our Champion’s Awards in 2012 with details to be released at a later date,” said Einhaus.
