Company sponsoring “Big Green Bus” & supporting Focus on Energy at 2011 Energy Fair

MADISON, Wis. – June 9, 2011 – The “Big Green Bus” will be rolling across rural central Wisconsin thanks to Alliant Energy’s sponsorship of the 22nd Annual Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) Energy Fair in Custer, Wis. that will take place later this month. Each year, the MREA Energy Fair transforms the Custer area into the global hot spot for renewable energy education. The Energy Fair will welcome over 20,000 people from nearly every state in the U.S. and several countries around the world to learn more about renewable energy and sustainability. The Energy Fair, which will take place June 17-19, is the nation’s longest running energy education event of its kind.

“Alliant Energy is pleased to again participate in the Energy Fair and to help promote renewable energy and sustainable living,” said Jeanine Penticoff, Director of Energy Efficiency, Account Management and Economic Development for Alliant Energy. “This year, we are sponsoring the veggie-powered “Big Green Bus” shuttle service to and from the event grounds. In addition, Alliant Energy is supporting Focus on Energy in their exhibition and educational efforts.”

Focus on Energy, Wisconsin utilities’ statewide program for energy efficiency and renewable energy, will join over 275 other exhibitors at the Energy Fair to promote its numerous renewable and energy-saving programs, residential cash-back rewards and business financial incentives. In addition to the exhibition, the Fair includes over 200 workshops, a clean energy car show, a green home pavilion, green building demonstrations, sustainable food discussions and other entertainment.

By 2012, Alliant Energy expects wind power to make up 11 percent of its energy supply, nearly double what it did just a few short years ago. Alliant Energy also owns or supports many other renewable energy sources like wastewater treatment facilities, anaerobic digesters, solar, and hydroelectric power.
