MADISON—As part of their mission of connecting people and ideas for a better Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters is pleased to announce they will bring author and environmentalist Bill McKibben to this year’s Isthmus Green Day on April 17, 2010.

McKibben is the author of EAARTH: Making a Life on a Tough New Planet and founder of 350.org, an international campaign dedicated to building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis. His earlier book, The End of Nature, is regarded as the first book for a general audience about climate change, and has been printed in more than twenty languages since its first publication in 1989.

As part of Isthmus Green Day and hosted by the Wisconsin Academy, McKibben will discuss his climate change research, his work with 350.org, and sign copies of EAARTH at 11:00 am in the level one exhibition hall of the Monona Terrace and Convention Center in Madison.

Isthmus Green Day is a family-friendly, environmentally focused festival and exposition designed to help people in the Madison community—no matter what their circumstances—live a little greener. The festival features hundreds of products, dozens of demonstrations and an excellent roster of expert speakers. Expectations are high for the single-day happening, which incorporates cooking demonstrations, transportation, family activities, eco-friendly fashion, alternative health information, entertainment, food and drink, and so much more. The event hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Follow the content of Isthmus Green Day at thedailypage.com/green.
