WHITEWATER Two University of Wisconsin-Whitewater alumni who used their education to build successful business careers will share their secrets and recruit students for jobs in their thriving technology companies.

Peter Ells O87 of Software One in New Berlin and Will Tesch O88 of Tesch Global in Grafton and SuperSaver.com will speak on campus from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, in the Timmerman Auditorium in the new Timothy J. Hyland Hall. The event is free.

Students are strongly encouraged to bring their resumes and meet with Ells and Tesch after the event.

Ells and Tesch are looking to hire new employees, and will describe the communication skills needed for success in the global business economy. Choton Basu, director of UW-Whitewater’s Global Business Resource Center, said both men like to hire UW-Whitewater’s “solid” students and together employ nearly 30 graduates.

In the new and global economy it is imperative that students realize what skills they need to land good jobs, Basu said.

Ells said he plans to share with UW-Whitewater students the things he sees when candidates come in for job interviews and hopes students will listen to his message to be better prepared for the working world. He is the director of strategic alliances for Software One, which sells software licenses to large companies.

“I’m looking for people who want a career, not just a job,” Ells said.

He hopes to recruit new employees who have a strong work ethic and are good communicators who can build and maintain relationships with global customers.

Tesch is president of Tesch Global, a consulting company that advises businesses on how to use information technology to advance their strategic plans. He is also founder of SuperSaver.com, an online promotion engine for the mobile market.

He is looking for employees who demonstrate professionalism and who are ready for hard work. Tesch hopes to recruit UW-Whitewater graduates who not only understand computer programming, but who also know how to use social media technologies.

The Tuesday, March 30, event is part of UW-Whitewater’s ongoing effort to connect alumni with campus and help students explore career opportunities.

“Our graduates are doing amazing things,” Basu said. “This is another way to showcase the innovative work they’re doing.”
