Neenah, Wis. – Miron Construction Co., Inc. announced on Thursday that it has joined the Global Leadership in Our Built Environment (GLOBE) Alliance as one of the organization’s partners.

The GLOBE Alliance is a broad-based international action network of environmental, business, industry, financial, faith-based, academic, and community organizations around the world who share a commitment to advocating for sustainable building practices as a key strategy for combating climate change.

“Miron Construction is a proponent of sound sustainable design and construction practices that demonstrate the benefits of the triple bottom line,” said Theresa Lehman, director of sustainable services for Miron. “Buildings are the number one emitter of carbon due to the large quantities of energy they consume. We share in GLOBE Alliance’s goal of fighting climate change by educating people on the importance of energy efficiency and how energy impacts their bottom line from a life-cycle perspective. We can demonstrate the positive impact sustainability has on the facilities we’ve built, including our own. In order to meet our carbon reduction goals, private-public partnerships are imperative, which is why we advocate for proactive policies that require improved energy performance of facilities. We are proud to be a partner of GLOBE Alliance.”

Miron was one of 40 businesses and organizations from 17 countries that joined the GLOBE Alliance at the UN COP16 in Cancun, Mexico earlier this month, during which they urged governments to prioritize reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the built environment and increase investment in this sector. Miron also represented USGBC at the World Climate Summit, which focused on the importance of global, public-private partnerships that are required to meet carbon emission goals. That same week Miron hosted the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council’s annual conference at their state-of-the-art, newly-expanded and renovated headquarters in Neenah, which is seeking LEED certification.
