MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle issued the following statement regarding today’s vote by the Export-Import Bank to grant final approval for a major project for Bucyrus. The U.S. Export-Import Bank voted to approve loan guarantees for mining equipment that will be produced by Bucyrus in the Milwaukee area and create and retain hundreds of jobs in Wisconsin.
“I want to thank the Export-Import Bank for supporting good manufacturing jobs at Bucyrus and for supporting Wisconsin’s continued economic recovery,” Governor Doyle said. “I have been working closely with Bucyrus and the Export-Import Bank to move this project forward because it supports U.S. exports, clean coal, lower carbon emissions and good jobs in Wisconsin. This is exactly the type of project the Export-Import Bank should be investing in, one that will help a great Wisconsin manufacturer compete in a global economy.”
