Milwaukee, Wisconsin (March 17, 2010). The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce that shareholder Timothy F. Nixon has been awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Alumni Association. Nixon is being honored for his successful career and contributions to the university, legal profession and community. The award will be presented at the Alumni Awards Night on Saturday, April 17.

Nixon is the team leader for the firm’s Business Finance and Restructuring Practice Group and member of the Corporate and Litigation Practice Groups. He represents clients in state and federal courts in all aspects of bankruptcy including debtors, secured creditors, creditor committees, asset purchasers, receivers and trustees. His practice includes advising international clients on American bankruptcy laws as well as American clients on foreign insolvency issues. Nixon has represented clients in cases before the United States Supreme Court, the Courts of Appeal and in bankruptcy courts throughout the United States, including some of the largest bankruptcies filed in the country.

Nixon is a frequent lecturer and expert commentator on bankruptcy issues, and he is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. He earned a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a law degree, cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Nixon is actively involved in several organizations throughout the Green Bay community. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce and is the immediate past president of the Board. He is President of the City of Green Bay Water Commission and also serves as an Assistant Editor for Voyageur Magazine, a publication of the Brown County Historical Society. Additionally, Nixon has served in several leadership positions for the Village of Waunakee.
