MADISON—Governor Doyle announced today that the Village of Bloomington, Grant County, has received a $298,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program of the Department of Commerce (Commerce) to improve the village streets and upgrade the water and sewer systems.

“Investing in local development projects helps our communities continue moving forward,” Governor Doyle said. “I am pleased to provide assistance to help the Village of Bloomington undertake an important streets and infrastructure improvement project.”

The Village of Bloomington is in the final phase of improving the water and sewer systems. The upgrade of the systems will eliminate excessive ground water flow and sanitary sewer backups. The infrastructure work will also improve street conditions. Total project cost is $845,750.

CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
