Dane County: Paddle to Work Day – Thursday, June 17, 2010

Who: A large flotilla of canoes, kayaks, and other non-motorized watercraft paddled by people commuting to work via Lake Monona. Others may be commuting on other lakes. All paddlers are encouraged to register their trips at http://www.takeastakeinthelakes.com (follow the Paddle to Work Day event link).

What: Paddle to Work Day, part of Dane County’s annual Take a Stake in the Lakes Days activities highlights how Dane County lakes provide a healthy, energy and wallet-efficient and environmentally-safe alternative to conventional commuting methods. Just one more reason to make sure our lakes and rivers are preserved and protected. The flotilla will include two 25-foot-long replicas of voyageur canoes used hundreds of years ago by fur traders – used June 17th to carry modern-day workers to their places of work.

When: June 17, gathering at 6:00 a.m., leaving at 6:30 a.m.

Arriving at Law Park approximately 7:30 a.m.
