Vetter, a Cottage Grove native who recently helped the USA Women’s hockey team to a Silver Medal at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games will continue her involvement in the hockey world by training youth thru professional hockey players at Athletic Republic. She will be right at home in her role as Director of Hockey which will entail training hockey players to perform better on the ice and reduce their risk of injury. Vetter will also be looking for more ways for Athletic Republic to be involved in the hockey community through camps, tournaments, leagues, and fundraising events in order to raise the level of play in the area and help keep hockey in Wisconsin strong.
What has Jessie been doing recently?
“Since the Olympics I have been very busy. I have had the opportunity to visit schools, talk to different groups in the business industry, attend camps, participate in many golf fundraisers and share my experiences about the Olympics. Wisconsin is my home and it has been so much fun having an opportunity to share my story with so many different people and also thank them for supporting my team throughout the Olympics.” – Vetter
Why Athletic Republic?
“During my playing days I had an opportunity to train at Athletic Republic (formerly Acceleration Madison) when it was down near campus. It gave my team an opportunity to gain speed, strength, quickness off the ice and also gave us an opportunity to bond as a team away from the rink. It is located inside The MAC Sport Center in Verona where 4500 square feet of training space, 4 basketball courts, and turf are used to give the athlete the best experience possible.
Athletic Republic Hockey Treadmill
Athletic Republic is the place to build speed and power as a hockey player as it is the only place to find the patented Hockey Treadmill. The hockey treadmill allows athletes to skate in a controlled environment where they learn proper skating mechanics while skating at inclines up to 32 degrees and speeds up to 17 miles per hour. The synthetic ice like surface allows for athletes to train in their hockey skates and train faster and higher than on the ice. The hockey treadmill is used by several college teams including Brown University, Michigan Tech, University of Minnesota, and Stanford to name a few that have one in their strength and conditioning facilities.
