— Gov. Jim Doyle is planning two “major” green jobs announcements today in Milwaukee and in Oshkosh. In a 10 a.m. visit to Milwaukee’s Nature Tech, Doyle plans to announce major funding to three Milwaukee area companies to help them create several hundred new green jobs in Wisconsin and manufacture renewable energy and energy efficient products. In a 1:30 p.m. visit to Oshkosh’s Renewegy, he’s due to announce funding to help an Oshkosh company create new green jobs. — Milwaukee’s Northwestern Mutual says parents and kids gave different answers when polled about the impact of the economy on their families. In a quiz on the company’s financial literacy Web site themint.org, almost half of adults said that the economy brought their families closer by working together to change their spending habits and priorities. Only one in four children agreed. Instead, most children said their parents didn’t discuss the family budget or do anything differently. The company recommends involving kids in conversations about money to help build a foundation for future financial security.
