TOP STORIES Related: – Mercury Marine has no plans for do-over vote 52 Wisconsin banks unprofitable in the second quarter: About one of every five Wisconsin banks was unprofitable in the second quarter as loans continued to deteriorate in the struggling economy, a report Thursday shows. Fifty of Wisconsin’s 282 banks posted net losses, and two others broke even, in the second quarter, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Altogether, Wisconsin banks lost about $161 million in the quarter, compared with a loss of $207 million in the same period in 2008. Related: Oshkosh Army contract could be worth $2.6B: Oshkosh Corp.’s defense division has been awarded a supply contract to provide up to 23,000 trucks and trailers to the U.S. Army, with an initial order valued at $280.9 million. Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle said the total contract could be worth up to $2.6 billion and create 2,000 production jobs in the state. Through the state’s Enterprise Zone program, Wisconsin will provide up to $35 million over the next 12 years to support the project, which could generate another $42 million in private investment. Wisconsin and Michigan radio outlets bought: A veteran Wisconsin broadcaster with Fox Valley connections has signed a deal to acquire a cluster of 10 radio stations in northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Neenah Paper teams with Crane & Co.: Neenah Paper signed an exclusive partnership agreement with Dalton, Mass.-based Crane & Co. to manufacture, market and distribute its fine-paper brands. DoorSystems trims number of planned layoffs: The number of Marshfield DoorSystems employees marked to lose their jobs in late September was reduced by more than half Thursday, largely because of a decision to utilize shortened work weeks, according to company and union officials.
