The Wisconsin Environmental Education Board (WEEB), located at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, is seeking proposals for a new Energy Education Resource Grant Program. This grant program is offered in cooperation with the Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP) and is funded by Focus on Energy.

Funds are restricted to organizations (applicant’s school and corporation or public agency if applying on behalf of a private school) within the Focus on Energy territory. Call the Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP) at 715-346-4651 to determine if your organization is within Focus on Energy territory.

The Board anticipates awarding $12,000. The funds are available specifically for K-12 Technology and Engineering (Tech. Ed.) teachers and Family and Consumer Science (FCS) teachers.

The goal of the program is to assist Tech. Ed. and FCS teachers in their efforts to promote sound consumer decision-making among students by increasing awareness of energy efficient techniques and products. Tech. Ed. and FCS teachers may apply for up to $1,000 in funds. These funds are designed to be used to purchase energy-related resources and services and to support professional development experiences in energy education.

Proposals are due April 1. More information on grant eligibility, application rules, selection criteria, timeline, and how to apply can be found at the WEEB Web site, http://www.uwsp.edu/cnr/weeb , or contact Ginny Carlton, administrative specialist, 715-346-3805 or weeb@uwsp.edu.

Initiated in 1990, WEEB’s mission is to “provide leadership in the development of learning opportunities that empower Wisconsin citizens with the knowledge and skills needed to make wise environmental decisions and take responsible actions in their personal lives, work places, and communities.”

All energy grants are subject to review by Focus on Energy and must comply with their rules and regulations. For more information about Focus on Energy, visit focusonenergy.com . For more information about KEEP, visit http://www.uwsp.edu/keep.
