Virtual conference tool focuses on conversation, not just presentation

MILWAUKEE, WI– (October 20, 2009) – Virtual communication consulting firm Shift Worldwide announces the launch of Virtual Conference Rooms (http://www.virtualconferencerooms.com) an innovative, browser-based platform that fills the visual void existing in conference calls and virtual presentation tools, while reducing the high costs of business travel and office-based videoconferencing systems.

“Virtual Conference Rooms are built for ease of use: one-click entry, no software to download and no hidden costs. Using our virtual conference rooms, you interact with an ease equivalent to that of a face-to-face meeting,” says Paul Trout, CEO of Shift Worldwide.

“Each conference room allows for 16 Hi-Definition video feeds at one time, creating a psycho-social stimulus that holds people’s attention. Participants lose anonymity and the platform deters multitasking. By seeing one another, participants stay engaged and are more motivated to participate. Our platform creates an active audience focused on live conversation, not just passive presentation.”

Along with a standard suite of tools for sharing documents, materials, and computer-based applications, Shift Worldwide helps clients optimize, plan and produce their meetings. The flexibility of the platform is such that it can be easily branded and customized to meet most client needs.

Early adopters of Virtual Conference Rooms include the international law firm of Foley & Lardner LLP and The University of Michigan Ross School of Business Center for Venture Capital and Private Equity.

Foley & Lardner is currently using Virtual Conference Rooms to implement internal business development training for attorneys in multiple cities across the nation. Said Christie Caceres, National Client Development Manager at Foley & Lardner LLP, “Our business development training programs have been taken to a new and very different level, giving Foley attorneys the ability to learn by seeing and interacting with one another from wherever they are. The platform adds a needed personal element to training and best of all, it’s been highly cost-effective.”

Professor David Brophy of the University of Michigan has partnered with Shift Worldwide to connect 15 different student teams with domestic and global companies positioning themselves for venture capital funding. “Shift Worldwide provides for continuous and tight interaction among team members, increasing productivity and the likelihood of mission success.” “Planning and conducting virtual meetings, events and training can often be challenging, just like in the real world,” says Amy Westrup, CMO of Shift Worldwide. “We listen to clients to understand their goals and work hand-in-hand to develop a well thought-out approach to their meetings which ensures a high-quality virtual experience for everyone.”
