NEENAH: Within a two-year timeline, all students at Saint Mary Central High School will have laptop computers.

In June, the TCCES Board of Education approved a new technology initiative that will include every student receiving a laptop computer in 2010-2011. Freshman will receive their laptops first, with the remaining student body to follow throughout the next year. Instructors will be given their laptops this fall, and will receive training in hardware, software and curriculum integration throughout the upcoming school year. Laptops will be used with the technology-integrated curriculum by students throughout the school day and be taken home for homework and projects. Student laptops will be leased from the high school.

St. Mary Central’s technology department anticipates completing the update of the existing infrastructure to support this endeavor by the end of the summer. This plan includes installing wireless Internet access throughout the entire building.

St. Mary Central is part of Twin City Catholic Educational System (TCCES), which also includes St. Margaret Mary and St. Gabriel Elementary Schools in Neenah, as well as St. Mary Elementary and Seton Catholic Middle School in Menasha. TCCES is dedicated to the individual development of students by providing an education focused on faith, academics and service.
