Governor Jim Doyle will be in Fond du Lac tomorrow, Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. to thank the community, Mercury Marine and the company’s employees for working together and keeping Mercury Marine in Wisconsin. He will meet with company and community leaders at Mercury’s headquarters.

“Mercury Marine is a great Wisconsin company and a source of pride for the state,” Governor Jim Doyle said. “Its 70-year history is an important part of Wisconsin’s manufacturing tradition, and I want to thank everyone who helped ensure Mercury’s long-term presence in Wisconsin.”

Mercury president Mark Schwabero will be on hand Friday for the governor’s comments.

“Governor Doyle was instrumental in the process of developing agreements that enabled Mercury to remain in Wisconsin,” Mark Schwabero said. “Like many companies, Mercury has faced many difficult challenges during the economic downturn, and the governor’s insight, strength and commitment helped create solutions necessary for Mercury to continue operating in Wisconsin.”
