Internet services continue; UI Call Centers open Saturday morning; all services resume Tuesday

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development will be closed for business on Friday, September 4, a designated furlough day for its employees.

As is always the case, individuals can file a new claim for Unemployment Insurance and update an existing claim online at the following site: http://www.ucclaim-wi.org. Claims also can be filed by calling the automated, non-operator assisted phone system at 800-822-5246. Operator assistance with UI claims will not be available Friday for individuals using the automated phone system.

Using the online claims site is recommended. Claimants are also urged to file new claims or update existing claims Tuesday or Wednesday, no later than Thursday.

Claim specialists will be available at UI Call Centers from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 5.

All other DWD offices will resume services on Tuesday, September 8, the day after the Labor Day holiday.

Other services remain available on the department website: http://dwd.wisconsin.gov/. The Internet employment site, JobCenterOfWisconsin.com, for example, is accessible at all hours of the day. Job seekers can post resumes, and employers can list openings.
