Radford Co. ends 137 year run in Oshkosh: Radford employed 52 people in Oshkosh in early June when its parent company, Illinois-based Dyson, Dyson and Dunn Inc., announced it was closing the company. By Friday, most of the former Radford workers had already found and started other jobs, but some still came back to work part-time to help out in the company’s last days, Radford Corporate Human Resources Manager Judith Kallman said. “Our concern was to be there for the employees,” Kallman said. “We’ve made due with what is left. It has been dwindling, though.”

Logging industry trade show set to roll into Green Bay: The 2008 Lake States Logging Congress convention will roll into Green Bay Thursday through Saturday, bringing 10,000-15,000 people to the area. Logging Congress is the largest Midwest logging industry trade show of its kind, drawing internationally from Canada, to as far away as Finland. The show is at Lambeau Field and inside Shopko Hall. “With large conventions such as this, spending at restaurants, hotels and area attractions is estimated to be more than $3 million,” said Beth Peters, director of sales at the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Harley event means big business: Harley-Davidson Inc.’s 105th anniversary celebration has city of Milwaukee officials scrambling to accommodate special permit requests. The city has issued a variety of permits, from temporary liquor licenses to vendor licenses, for activities and events surrounding the celebration, which is occurring throughout the Milwaukee area this weekend. The applicants include bars, restaurants and other businesses looking to capitalize on the thousands of Harley riders who will be attending the event.
