The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) have approved the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the I-94 Corridor Study

The public can submit comments on the Final EIS document during the review period, which runs from April 4, 2008 to May 5, 2008.

Comments can be:

Roberto Gutierrez, P.E.

WisDOT, Southeast Region

141 NW Barstow St.

PO Box 798

Waukesha, WI 53187-0798

WisDOT and FHWA prepared an EIS to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act. The EIS explains why WisDOT and FHWA propose to reconstruct I-94, the alternatives considered, and their impacts.

The Final EIS contains the same information as the Draft EIS, along with additional information on the comments received from the public, local governments and other state and federal government agencies, and a response to those comments.  The Final EIS reiterates WisDOT’s and FHWA’s intention to reconstruct I-94 between the Wisconsin-Illinois state line and the Mitchell Interchange with an additional lane in each direction.

After the Final EIS review period has closed, FHWA will issue a Record of Decision, which announces the agencies’ final decision on the reconstruction of the I-94 North-South Corridor.
