LANSING, Mich., April 8, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Michigan Forest Products Council is hosting the 16th Annual Northeastern Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula of Michigan Timber Industry Conference on Friday, April 18th at the Terrace Bay Resort in Escanaba, Michigan. Over 250 loggers and forestry professionals from the region will attend the full-day session which promotes sustainable forest management and provides updates on Michigan’s vital forest products industry.
The keynote speaker for the event will be James Campen, Offensive Line Coach of the Green Bay Packers. Mr. Campen played in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons, five as the center with the Packers – including Brett Favre’s first NFL start. He is now a rising star as a coach with the organization. “We are excited to welcome Coach Campen to this event,” stated Margaret Minerick, President of Minerick Logging. “Coach Campen can relate the Packers’ history of winning and success to Michigan’s forest products industry, which is poised to be a national leader,” added Minerick.
The conference will address a range of topics related to sustainable forestry and forest management operations. “We are looking forward to a variety of sessions addressing wildlife habitat management, Michigan’s bioeconomy, truck safety and regulations, and state forest management updates,” stated Kevin Korpi, Executive Director.
