John and Tashia Morgridge Encourage Philanthropy in “A Place Called Wisconsin”

MADISON, Wis. – The Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) welcomes its members and guests to join the Chamber at the 56th Annual Dinner at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center the evening of Tuesday, September 16.

Considered the area’s top business networking event of the year, the Annual Dinner will feature a keynote address from John and Tashia Morgridge, renowned benefactors to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, speaking on effective philanthropy in “A Place Called Wisconsin”.

Wisconsin natives and University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni John and Tashia Morgridge have lived their lives fully in pursuit of giving back. A retired special education teacher and author, Tashia joins her husband John, the former president/CEO and current Chairman Emeritus of Cisco Systems, in their generous work for several boards and nonprofit organizations in education, conservation and human service initiatives including CARE, the TOSA Foundation, the Nature Conservancy, and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle and other honored guests will also be joining the Morgridges and more than 1000 GMCC members at the Dinner.

“Our Chamber’s Annual Dinner is always a special night for the business community of greater Madison,” GMCC President Jennifer Alexander says. “We are excited to share this night with John and Tashia Morgridge. Their philanthropy to the University and across our city and the state of Wisconsin truly provide all of us with an outstanding example of how success in business can work in concert with generosity.”

The evening’s program starts at 5:30 p.m. with the Welcoming Reception, followed by Dinner and the Keynote Address at 6:30 p.m. A Dessert Reception will complete the night at 8:30 p.m. with entertainment provided throughout the evening by The Tony Castañeda Latin Jazz Sextet.
